Frontier Developments has already confirmed that Planet Zoo is coming to PC on Steam in November. The upcoming game can be bought in Standard, and Deluxe Editions and pre-orders are have already started. The developer also released a new trailer showing off the game's visuals and the animals that will be under your care. The company also said that the experience would be as authentic as possible.

The lucky folks over at Screen Rant were given a 20-minute gameplay demo of Planet Zoo, in which Frontier's latest "deep management simulation" was revealed. Players will be able to construct a zoo, managed day-to-day activities, make sure the animals are happy, safe, healthy, and alive, and many more things.

Regardless of whether a player is constructing a theme park with roller coasters or designing a zoo for prehistoric animals, construction and management simulation games can rely a bit too much on customer satisfaction and attendance growth versus other factors. Planet Zoo takes everything, from education to the happiness of all the animals, into account.

As mentioned, Frontier has guaranteed fans that Planet Zoo will be a realistic experience, meaning the developers have considered the scope and scale of zoos around the world. There's no specific or perfect way to create or manage a zoo, and they want players to take that into consideration.

A demo was also shown during the recent E3 conference, in which the game's two pillars were highlighted: realism and player freedom. The graphics are not super hyper-realistic, but the visuals sure are impressive. However, expect the animals to behave as they do in real life and you must ensure their habitat is conducive for them.

Frontier Developments previously released Zoo Tycoon, Planet Coaster, and Jurassic World Evolution, so it's pretty clear they want to create the ultimate zoo sim.  Planet Zoo will include a campaign that spans the globe and also a Sandbox mode so you can build to your heart's content.

The Deluxe Edition includes the game and the following

  • Pre-launch Beta access.

  • Three exclusive animals.

  • High-quality wallpapers.

  • Original Soundtrack by Jim Guthrie and JJ Ipsen.

Those who have pre-ordered the game will have access to the beta and will add the Thomson's Gazelle, Pygmy Hippo, and Komodo Dragon to their game at launch.

Frontier Developments also announced that they would release a series of developer diaries. You can view the first one below to know how the team created the authentic experience that makes the game realistic. Anyone who pre-orders either version will gain access to the beta and will add the Komodo Dragon, Pygmy Hippo and Thomson's Gazelle to their game at launch.
