When Prince Charles assumes the throne, Prince William, who currently holds the title of Duke of Cambridge, will assume the title Prince of Wales.
When Prince William becomes King in the future, his wife Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge will have to assume more responsibilities as a member of the royal family, and she is already bring groomed into these responsibilities at this early date.
Most recently, it was announced that Kate would assume the role of Patron of the Royal Photographic Society. This may seem like a small role, but this position has been held by the Queen herself for over 67 years.
It has been reported that the Royal Photographic Society holds a special place in the heart of Queen Elizabeth II. The organization was established in 1853 with the goal of promoting an interest in the art and science of photography. It is said that Kate is a perfect fit for the role because of her passion for photography and what impact it can create in the lives of the youth. It has also been noted that Kate is quite visible in the company of the Queen for high profile events.
"Kate's been taking on new responsibilities little by little over the last few years, so it won't be a shock when the time comes. William and Kate are the favorite royals to take the crown in many generations, so the people of the U.K. are very excited about it," royal expert Rebecca Long said in an interview.
William and Kate's love story has been followed by millions of fans since 2001 when the prince was first reported to fancy a student from his university. As their relationship developed, the public kept close watch over the up and downs of their courtship and eventual marriage and have been cheering the royal couple as they started their own family.
