WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Supernatural season 14 finale. Read at your own risk.

Supernatural season 15 will be the last for the series, and there were reports that Jensen Ackles would be directing one of the episodes of the final installment. Also, there were questions if show creator Eric Kripke will also return in the series' last.

In a report via TVLine, Ackles is said to be directing the fourth episode of Supernatural season 15. The report said he would be stepping into the director's chair before anyone else, which only makes sense since it would be hard for him, largely because he's also part of the cast.

The show only has a handful of leads, so the cast works harder than they should. So, it's a challenge for Ackles switching from one place to another. Meanwhile, some longtime Supernatural fans are asking if creator Kripke will return in the show since it would be nice seeing him contributing to the end run of the series.

Kripke said he is open to come back. However, there were factors that he cannot control. For instance, he is currently at Sony, while Supernatural is a show distributed by Warner Bros. TV. He noted that he's at two "warring houses," which makes it hard for him and he's not sure if they would allow him to go over the series.

But, Kripke made it clear he would love to talk to executive producers Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer regarding the finale. He said he wanted to have a conversation with these two, and he would like to make sure Sam and Dean will be on a situation where it will make everyone happy.

And even if Kripke would not write the final episode, his stamp on the show has been remarkable for longtime fans. After all, Supernatural is reportedly the longest-running series of its genre, and it has inspired more shows that anyone could ever imagine.

Meanwhile, the Winchesters will be haunted by the past in Supernatural season 15 - based on the happenings on the finale of the previous season. It is possible that some characters will reappear on the show's final run.

Ackles said the fact that God allows the gates of Heaven and Hell to open up means a lot of familiar faces are coming back in Supernatural season 15. The actor hopes that Adam (portrayed by Jake Abel) will return - he is the third Winchester brother trapped in the cage of Hell.
