A royal expert has claimed that Queen Elizabeth II will likely retire and step down of the throne because of a heartbreaking reason.

Her Majesty is already 93 years old, and she is the longest reigning British monarch after she surpassed Queen Victoria in 2015. Queen Elizabeth has been dedicated to her royal duties ever since she ascends to the throne and she has reportedly carried more work than Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton.

However, even though the Queen is dedicated to doing her duties, royal expert Duncan Larcombe claims she might eventually step down due to loneliness. He told Yahoo's Royal Box that most royal fans reportedly think the monarch might stand down when her husband Prince Philip passes away.

The royal expert said that's certainly a possibility, especially since Her Majesty has always been with the Duke of Edinburgh. But now that he's already retired, other royal family members are reportedly compensating and looking after the Queen. She's now in her nineties and still healthy, but Larcombe said she's entitled to retirement by now.

Prince Philip retired from his royal duties back in 2017, and some reports claim he now spends most of his time at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. The Duke of Edinburgh is already 98 years old, and he has reportedly completed 22,219 public meetings or solo events since 1952.

In June, Prince Philip didn't attend Queen Elizabeth's Trooping the Colour. Because of that, according to royal biographer Angela Levin, Her Majesty looks "lonely" in her carriage. In a report for Yahoo's Royal Box, Levin claims the monarch pledged she would serve the country until she dies, and she's likely keeping that promise.

The royal biographer added that while the Queen looks healthy, energetic, very articulate, and can stand up for an hour, she feels a little sorry for the monarch when she's in her coach since she's entirely on her own at that time. And even though it's understandable Prince Philip didn't come at the event, Levin said that's "loneliness" for Queen Elizabeth.

In another related report, retirement for royals is said to be different as they don't retire from the "royalty." Royals are reportedly expected to do and fulfill their royal duties until they aren't capable of doing so. In the case of Prince Philip, it was reportedly best for him to step down because of his old age as public engagements are becoming too much for him to handle.
