People simply cannot stop talking about what will happen to Rey in Star Wars Episode 9. Will the truth about the girl from Jakku finally be revealed in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? How will Rey factor into the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga that spans nine films? A new Star Wars animated short may have offered an answer, and it could confirm that Rey is a true Skywalker.

Rey's possible connection to the Skywalkers has been something that fans speculated about even before the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, it was ultimately revealed in Star Wars: The Last Jedi that Rey isn't anybody special apart from being truly strong in the Force. Nevertheless, people still argue that Star Wars Episode 9 has prepared a shocking revelation about the girl from Jakku, and it could have something to do with her parentage. Not surprisingly, the new animated short posted on the YouTube channel Star Wars Kids may have offered a clue about Rey's lineage.

The latest episode of Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures puts the focus on the Jedi and Sith who have been introduced in the Skywalker Saga. It starts off with Anakin Skywalker meeting Qui-Gon Jinn and being protected from Darth Maul before he is brought to the Jedi Council. At one point, Obi-Wan Kenobi promises Anakin that he will be a Jedi and they both take on Count Dooku before fighting on Mustafar. This scene quickly moves to Obi-Wan's fight with Darth Vader, which is witnessed by Luke Skywalker.

Luke Skywalker's training follows the death of Obi-Wan Kenobi under Yoda before he takes on Darth Vader. Then things get truly interesting when Luke's story is connected to Rey as she brings him Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber. The scene features Maz Kanata's dialogue in The Force Awakens when she finds out Rey has discovered Anakin's weapon. "That lightsaber was Luke's and his father's before him, and now it calls to you," Maz tells Rey.

It's an interesting reminder that Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber chose Rey above anybody else. Interestingly, it appeared to have resisted Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens but was easily summoned by Rey. So does this mean that Rey is a true Skywalker? The truth may finally be revealed in Star Wars Episode 9.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
