Melania Trump's spokesperson and White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham was bruised in an altercation with North Korean officials at the Demilitarized Zone.
While the First Lady was not seen with the United States President Donald Trump, her aide, the newly appointed WH press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, was front and center in a brawl which occurred at the House of Freedom venue of the meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and the POTUS.
A video of the altercation was taken that showed Grisham pushing at security officers who were trying to block the entry of media persons from the United States and those from North Korea as well. On the aforesaid video, she tries to open a path that would let the reporters into the room where the meeting between the two leaders was to take place.
She is heard saying, "Go, go!"
The press secretary was said to have sustained some bruises from her encounter, dubbed "surreal" in a Twitter post by a WH reporter. The North Korean security personnel appeared to be very fervent about their objective and seemed to be working at keeping the view of some U.S. reporters obscured, the same reporter contends on social media.
Grisham was said to have thrown herself into the fray to ensure that the "US TV camera" was able to get in, however, it had gotten to a point where "body blows" became necessary.
Jim Acosta of CNN had also written of the situation that the WH press secretary got involved in a "scuffle" in trying to ensure that "WH press pool" was maneuvered into a position where it would be able to provide coverage on the Trump and Kim meeting.
However, in all of this, the First Lady seemed to have missed all the excitement, as she was nowhere present during the trip or the event. She had left her husband, President Donald Trump, to fend for himself at the North Korea talks.
Body language expert Judi James read into the body movements and positions of President Trump and Mr. Kim and concluded that the former was "doing all the work," while the latter had seemed stiff and lacking in "flexibility."
Melania's absence had also been noted at an earlier trip, where world leaders had met for the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan. At the photo op for the spouses of leaders at the said summit, it was noticeable that Melania had been missing.
A post on her Instagram account pointed to the possible reason for her absence. In her post, she indicated that she was "looking forward" to working collaboratively with her "#BeBest Ambassadors."
