Melania revealed in an interview it was she who called Donald Trump for their first date. That was because he was with a Norwegian heiress on a date that time they met.
Then-real-estate-mogul Donald had been with Celina Midelfart when he first set his eyes on then-professional-model Melania Knauss. Midelfart, who now lives in Chelsea, London, is the heir to the Norwegian Midelfart cosmetics fortune.
This was back in September 1998, and Trump and Midelfart had been seeing each other for some seven months, accordingly. It was also around the time the businessman and his second wife, Marla Maples, had split.
Trump and Melania had both been attendance at the get-together bash at the Kit Kat Klub for the New York Fashion Week, the former having gone with Midelfart to get to ostensibly meet a supermodel who was to be present.
However, it was told that the moment the wealthy businessman set eyes on the one who had been beside the supermodel he was supposed to be meeting, everything changed: it was his future bride, Melania.
When Trump saw her, he had asked Paolo Zampolli to be introduced. Zampolli owned the modeling agency which had brought over Melania from Europe to the United States. In an interview some years back with Inside Edition in 2016, the agency owner said of Trump that he was a "smart man," when asked whether "Donald" had realized then and there that Melania was "it."
Zampolli had shared that Melania had not known who Donald Trump was at the time. And although Trump had been with Midelfart that evening, the latter had taken the chance to ask for Melania's number.
In her above interview, Melania had explained that she turned down Trump at the time because he had been with someone else at the venue. However, she did ask for his number, and he had obliged. He gave her all his numbers---to his office of the business, his resort, Mar-a-Lago, and his New York abode.
A couple of weeks later, Melania had called him up, and they had their first date, which she admitted in her 2016 interview, she remembered as though it had only been "two months ago."
The two had gone for dinner in New York City and later dropped by Moomba, a popular night spot in the city. From then on, the two had been together. Donald had described what they had as a "very compatible" match. And after seeing each other for five years, never having any argument or "fight," the two tied the knot in 2005 in Palm Beach, Florida.
