Taylor Swift is once again embroiled in a highly publicized public drama with American entrepreneur Scooter Braun. Despite being involved in a ruckus with Swift in the past, Katy Perry has recently sided with the pop sweetheart. Commentators have noted that this might be a start of a beautiful friendship between the two superstars.
Both Perry and Swift have had a series of public feud in the past. Nevertheless, the 'Roar' publicly ended it recently, and the decision might have worked quite well to her advantage as she has found a new friend with Swift.
Perry recently publicized her opinion about the ongoing battle between her newly found friend and Braun. Braun is claiming rights to all of Swift's six albums, a decision that has put him in the target of many of Swift's fans.
Perry decided to publicly sign a petition that calls for all of Swift's music returned the rights to her. An insider close to Perry told HollywoodLife that the superstar thinks that the issue of music rights in important, and that she is proud of Swift to be standing up for herself, as well as all other artists in the music industry.
The still unnamed source told HollywoodLife, "Katy is beyond proud of Taylor for speaking her truth about this entire situation. She thinks Taylor is incredibly brave and courageous for speaking out not only for herself but for all women who have experienced these same issues in the music industry."
The issue started when Scooter bought Swift's label, Big Machine Record, for $300 million. By doing so, he inadvertently gains rights to all of Swift's first six albums. Scooter first burst into the music business as Justin Beiber's manager. As the young star's career took off, so did Scooter's. He eventually went on to successfully manage the careers of Tori Kelly, Carly Rae Jepsen, Karlie Kloss, J. Balvin, and the Zac Brown Band.
Braun is also the top executive of Schoolboy Records label. He also has a joint venture with noted R&B singer Usher called Raymond-Braun Media Group.
Perry is not the only noted superstar to join Swift's cause. Among those that have shown support are Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Adele, Camila Cabello, and Nicki Minaj. Even Ariana Grande, who is signed into Scooter's label, decided to delete her Instagram post congratulating him over the purchase.
