After it has been announced that Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle will no longer be part of the Royal Foundation, rumors of a feud have been pitting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex against Prince William and Kate Middleton. The foundation, was, after all, established by Prince William and his brother Prince Harry in 2009.
After Prince Harry married American actress Meghan Markle in 2018, fans of the royal family have been keeping a close tabs over shifts in the relationship of Princess Diana's two boys. It is no secret that William and Harry have a very close relationship and that Harry got along famously with his sister in law, Kate. However, with the introduction of Meghan to the dynamic, pundits have been implying a growing rift between the two princes and their wives.
The rift was reportedly triggered by Prince William's unsolicited advice to his younger brother months before he married Meghan which resulted in the brothers not being in good terms for at least six months. It was reported that Prince William may have advised Harry to take things slow and the younger royal may have taken it as his brother trying to prevent his happiness, Yahoo UK reported.
However, Paul Burrell, who worked for their mother Princess Diana from 1987 until her death remained confident that there is nothing that will split William and Harry apart. Burrell, who has known the princes since they were little, said that while the rumor mills try to fuel a feud between the two royals, there is something much stronger that binds them together.
"I don't think that anything will ever split those boys, I think their mother's death cemented them together forever. Until their mother's death, they were very individual boys; now I think they are very close," Burrell said.
He was also dubious that Kate and Meghan were having a royal catfight and said that reports would have had to be framed that way to sell more interest to the public.
He added that now that Harry has a family of his own, there is even more reason for him to get closer to his older brother, who has been watching over him all these years. After the death of Princess Diana, the public has shifted their sights on her children Prince William and Prince Harry as well as their partners.
Prince William who met Kate Middleton in university in 2001 got married in a fairy tale ceremony in 2011 and now has three children. Prince Harry also got married to American actress Meghan Markle in 2018 and is now father to baby Archie Harrison.
