Tyson Fury has confirmed that a rematch with the WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will happen, and it's scheduled to take place on Feb. 22 2020.
"The rematch has been confirmed and signed [for] 22 February. It's on, the rematch," Fury told the audience at a Q&A event at the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
Fury's December fight with Wilder became a controversy when it was hailed a draw, though many believe that the British fighter deserved the title despite being knocked down twice at the Staples Center.
According to Fury, he will not let this fight with Wilder go the judges. This time, he aims to win Wilder's belt in the most obvious way he can.
"This time I am going to knock him the f*ck out," Fury vowed.
Meanwhile, Wilder is about to defend his title in another fight against Luis Ortiz. If he wins, it signals his readiness with Fury, who was victorious against Tom Schwarz in just two rounds last month in Las Vegas.
In other Fury news, Bob Arum has ignited the idea of a Tyson Fury vs. Jarrel Miller fight, describing the match-up as "a very good, interesting fight." Miller was ringside for Fury's last win against Tom Schwarz on June 15, two weeks after he could have had a world title shot against Anthony Joshua. But all this was lost when he failed three drug tests, which eventually resulted in Andy Ruiz Jr becoming unified world heavyweight champion.
Due to Miller's drug test results, he had his license revoked and had since been banned from the World Boxing Association, at least for six months. Before the scandal, it was apparent he was becoming a favorite and was a frontrunner for the right side of the bill.
However, Arum believes Miller is still worth giving a shot and did not rule out the possibility before talking up a potential encounter.
In an interview with IFL TV, Arum was quoted saying, "Actually, it's not really a suspension - they revoked his license because of the drug testing, because he hadn't formally signed a New York state boxing contract for the fight with Joshua.
In that same interview, Arum also confirmed Fury's next fight set to take place in September or October. It will be held most likely in New York, but depending on the opponent, he says Los Angeles or Las Vegas could house the fight.
