John Beecham (played by Tom Bateman) can't get any break in Beecham House episode 5. After revealing a big secret he has been carrying for most of his life to protect one important person, John learns of more bad news from home.
According to the episode synopsis of Beecham House episode 5, John will discover that the woman he loves, Margaret (played by Dakota Blue Richards), has unexpectedly left Delhi thus breaking his heart. However, before he could truly internalize what has happened, John learns of another secret between his brother Daniel (played by Leo Suter) and Chanchal (played by Shriya Pilgaonkar).
Will these developments also affect the secret he has told his family? Is August safe from his family?
In Beecham House episode 4, John finally revealed that August, the child he has been taking care of, is the heir to the seat of the Maharaja. The boy is the son of Kamlavati (played by Saiyami Kher) whom he married after recovering from the war.
Kamlavati and her family, led by the Maharaja (played by Denzil Smith), nursed him back to health while he was wounded. During that time, he and Kamlavati fell in love with each other, but then the family had enemies who wanted them dead.
John managed to escape the assault on the Maharaja's family and returned to Beecham House with August. He made a promise to the boy's family that he will keep his identity a secret as the same people who killed his kin could be coming after him as well.
But John had to reveal the truth in Beecham House episode 4 to convince Margaret to stay with him. Did knowing this secret push, Margaret, to leave him?
According to Daily Express, John tried to build a new life in Delhi and became a merchant. However, tongues will not stop wagging about his status as a single man with a boy to raise. His family has tried to match him up and pair with him other women, which only caused complications for John.
Beecham House will only run for six episodes and airs every Sunday and Monday nights at ITV. The show, created and directed by Gurinder Chadha, takes place in 1795 before Britain took the rule of the empire.
If the show gets a renewal, Chadha said that she would be exploring the beginnings of the British empire in India.
"People generally don't know about how the beginning of that relationship started," the creator said. "That was an interesting period for me, and what really fascinated me was the mechanics of how India became part of the Empire."
