Desna (played by Niecy Nash) realizes something big upon her return to the casino in Claws season 3 episode 6. Her brother Dean (played by Harold Perrineau) is so deep under the spell of Mac (played by Michael Horse) and Melba (played by Rebecca Creskoff) than she had anticipated.

According to the episode synopsis of Claws season 3 episode 6, Desna has now gained leverage over Governor Patel (played by Bernard White) to take her brother back from his clutches. However, upon seeing Dean with Mac and Melba, Desna realizes her big problem.

In the teaser of Claws season 3 episode 6, Desna tells her girls that Dean might as well be kidnapped with the kind of hold Mac and Melba have on him. Maybe what Desna needs to focus on instead is to get leverage on these two characters -- Mac and Melba -- instead of Governer Patel so that she can help her brother.

Meanwhile, Desna was triggered to go after Mac, Melba and the governor after an incident in Claws season 3 episode 5. She and Dean were finally reunited with their dad Calvin (played by Glynn Turman) who explained why he was absent for most of their life.

But things seemed to have turned well for Calvin after he became sober. He's now working at the Smithsonian and has invited Desna, Dean, Roller, and Virginia for a company event.

However, Melba put something in Calvin's drink that caused him to behave erratically and vomit on the guests. Desna and Dean thought that their dad had a relapse, but she figured out Melba's part in all of these.

When Desna tried to lead Dean away from Mac, however, her brother refused to be parted from Mac. That's when she realized that there's something seriously wrong when her brother chooses his captors over his family.

Nash took her first shot at directing in Claws season 3 episode 5. She spoke about this experience with Black Girl Nerds

"I love telling people what to do. You actually get to shift the atmosphere on set as a director," the actress said. "I'm the first director in three seasons who ever played music between setups, just to give the crew a little bit of a boost."

However, Nash also said that while she enjoyed being a director, she also felt exhausted as she still had to act. It was a lot of work, but she's raring to get back to the director seat again in a future episode.
