Apple has already unveiled the redesigned 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro, the latter of which you can actually upgrade to an impressive 8-core Intel processor. But now the Cupertino tech giant has finally decided to introduce the newest Pro, this time in 16 inches, and with that, the iPad 7 too.
Various reports online claim that Apple's mass production of the 16-inch MacBook Pro will commence in the last quarter of this year, further solidifying analyst reports that claimed a brand-new MacBook Pro is coming. A new iPad device might also be made available in the market soon, which the media loves to call iPad 7 for now.
Details on the reported release of Apple's newest gadgets are sparse, but reports say that it already has a supplier for both the products' backlight module: a company from Taiwan called Radiant Opto-Electronics. Additionally, the upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro will sport an LG-made LCD screen with a resolution of 3072 × 1920 pixels.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the upcoming notebook will come with a refreshed design and IHS Markit's Jeff Lin says that it will be underpinned by a new processor. However, the famed Apple analyst states that the redesign might not arrive until 2021, so the notebook reportedly being assembled might be something different.
Lin says the launch could be in September of this year. The thing though is, Apple hasn't introduced any of its Macs during the iPhone event, so we could be looking at an October launch instead.
Another recent report suggests that Apple is working on a new scissor-switch mechanism for its MacBook keyboards. That new keyboard could end up in a 2019 MacBook Air (but not the minor update Apple just dropped).
If Apple does indeed release an overhauled MacBook Pro with a 16-inch display this year, there's a chance that it may also feature the new scissor-switch keyboard.
Meanwhile, the new iPad 7 is expected to be released beginning this month, and it is reported to have a 10.2-inch display. We don't know as of now if Apple will launch it in the third or the fourth quarter of the year. The new model will reportedly be a successor of the entry-level 9.7-inch iPad 6 that's fueled by the A10X Fusion SoC and will provide a cost-effective solution for users wanting to migrate to iPadOS.
These all remain rumors until Apple says something. These leakers though have been correct in the past, so we'll see if they nail this one about the new iPad and MacBook Pro.
