Notable motorcycle manufacturer Ducati is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its iconic 916 model with the release of a special edition of another equally iconic motorcycle, the Panigale V4. Ducati said that the Special Edition Panigale V4 will be an exclusive model and that only five hundred of these bikes will be released. Each of the bikes will be individually numbers.
The official name of the bike Is Panigale V4 25O Anniversario 916. The bike will be officially unveiled on Friday, which also coincides with the American round of the Superbike Championship which is to take place at Laguna Seca. The launch is expected to be attended by four-time world champion Carl Fogarty.
Ducati is also set to join the Superbike Championship with bikes adorned with special decals which will serve as a tribute to the Panigale V4 25O Anniversario 916. The bikes will be driven by Ducati team riders Alvaro Bautista and Chaz Davies.
It has been 25 years since Ducati first released the iconic Ducati 916. Despite its short lifespan, it was only manufactured between 1994 and 1998, the bike made headlines and won a number of championships. The bike was hailed for its revolutionary design, which ultimately transformed the professional motorcycle racing industry. It features an elegant and light design, which Ducati combined with technical innovations that were considered impressive during that time.
The Ducati Panigale V4 25O Anniversario 916 will be a limited edition model. This means that not everyone can get their hands into this exclusive model. Only 500 of these bikes will be made, and each one will be individually numbered in order toad a sense of exclusivity to it. On top of that, the bike will also sport an original design and decals, as well as exclusive and limited edition racing components.
The bike will be presented by none other than the 'King,' Carl Fogarty. He won the World Superbike Championship four times while driving for Ducati, and one of those bikes was the Ducati 916.
The original Ducati 916 costs around $14,000 when it was released that is about $25,000 in today's' money. The Panigale V4 25O Anniversario 916 is expected to cost much more than that. With the bike being an exclusive model, interest towards it is surely on a different level. Ducati can cash in into this and can slap the bike with an extravagant price tag. Nevertheless, the bike will surely be worth it to whoever picks one of the 500 models.
