Netflix's "The Crown" portrayed Prince Philip, the Queen's husband, as the womanizer, impolite and charming husband of Queen Elizabeth. The show showed how he demeaned Queen Elizabeth and the crown. The life of the royals was dramatized for the viewers.

True events inspired the show but many are thinking whether the character of the Prince was given justice. The just like in the show, the Prince is known for his brutality of words and for being frank. The Prince once said that He wished that Elton John has turned the microphone off in one of his performance. One of his famous lines is about marriage. He said that when a man opens a car door for his wife, it's either a new car or a new wife. He is also pranked with his remark to the Paraguayan dictator Alfredo Stroessner. He said that it is a pleasant change to be in a country that isn't ruled by its people.

He was mistakenly linked to the Nazis. The Duke's sister was married to a German nobleman affiliated with the Nazi Party. The Duke, however, said that he was not conscious of anybody in the family expressing anti-Semitic views.

The Duke was portrayed as a cheater in the show. There are rumors that the Prince had an affair with an unnamed woman, but there was no evidence that it is true.

Despite his frank nature, the prince remained as one of the most popular among the royals. According to Matt Smith, the actor who played the Prince on-screen said that if you've talked to any of the staff, Philip's the one they all love really. He also said that the Prince is a bit more of a man of the people.

The show portrayed him as a bit resentful when he resigned from the navy. The Prince resented his decision because he was still enjoying and that he is not ready to quit the job.

The Prince met the future Queen during the war years while he is staying at Windsor. The two were love matched by Philip's uncle, Louis Mountbatten. The two married in 1947 and Philip received the title Duke of Edinburgh. The couple married at a young age, and they never thought that the Queen would be crowned soon. King George VI, the Queen's father died five years after they got married. He said that he rather have stayed in the navy.
