After eight years of not hearing the juiciest rumors and gossips in the upper east side of Manhattan, Gossip Girl is returning for another run. It has been confirmed earlier this week that a reimagined version of the hit series will be offering all-new episodes.

According to Deadline, WarnerMedia is launching its very own streaming platform, HBO Max, in the first months of 2020. And as a preparation for its material offerings, the upcoming streaming service has already commissioned ten hour-long episodes of Gossip Girl.

The premise of the reboot is revealed to be similar to the original show. But while Gossip Girl will be back in the lives of the elites in Manhattan, the show will pick up eight years after the original went down. So, a lot of the fandom are speculating that there will be a new person behind Gossip Girl in the new series.

It is uncovered by BBC News that the series will address how much “social media” and the city itself has shaped the current upper east side. Accordingly, the new Gossip Girl series will be so much more intriguing and controversial as it possible mirrors the society today.

The original series which ran on The CW for six seasons, from 2007 up to 2012, “developed” a cult following. Today, the overall 121 episodes of the original series are now accessible on Netflix.

It became the “household” show for Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, Chace Crawford, and Penn Badgely. However, there is no word yet if the original cast members will be joining the reboot series.

Even so, the original series creators, Josh Schwartz, and Stephanie Savage, will remain as creators and will join its original executive producer, Joshua Safran, as producers of the newly commissioned series.

As per Forbes, this is a huge “score” for the upcoming streaming service. This is because the original run became a phenomenal hit that stormed out various industries and product lines. And if ever the reboot run would be embraced with the same kind of following, it is perceived to supersede its predecessor.

In terms of the premiere date, there are reports that state that Gossip Girl will premiere in spring of 2020. While there are no confirmations yet, this is the most plausible schedule considering the date of HBO Max’s launch.

So far, these are the only details that have been shared about the reboot show. Nevertheless, it is expected for much newer details to emerge in the following months of 2019.
