The 2019 San Diego Comic-Con has ended, but Lucifer Season 5 was not seen at the panel. Some fans question the show's absence, given that it would be its last and final outing. So, why Tom Ellis and the rest of the gang didn't make it to the event?

According to CarterMatt, the explanation about Lucifer Season 5's absence at SDCC is quite simple; the show is yet to come out anytime soon. Netflix has to shell out a lot of money to organize a panel presentation for the show.

But as the series will not be released until the spring, there is no reason for the network to bring the cast and crew at the event. However, it may make more sense if Netflix brings Lucifer Season 5 out there, primarily that it is based on a comic book series.

But, there may be more convention appearances set for Ellis and the rest of the team in the coming months or when the show wraps up filming. Netflix knows how fans love the series after the works they have done to bring it back to the small screen. So, it may create a fan event of its own when the new season is about to come out.

Meanwhile, Ellis is now gearing for Lucifer Season 5, as seen on his Instagram account. He shared a clip of himself working out at the gym as he is preparing for the last and final installment.

From the looks of it, Ellis' training is different from the regular exercise needed for television or movie projects. "Getting the devils back back today with @paolomascitti working on the negative with a slow tempo for a real [fire emojis]," Ellis captioned the clip. He also used the hashtag #deviltraining as a nod to his character as the king of evil and AC/DC's "Back in Black" as his background song, which is fitting.

CinemaBlend noted Netflix renewed Lucifer for Season 5. However, it was bittersweet news, knowing the new season would also be its last. Ellis announced the update in a video and promised fans he would see them "in hell."

Netflix's move surprised everyone. Knowing Lucifer has been doing well in binge viewing, so some are expecting it may run longer.

It may be frustrating for fans to hear the show is about to say goodbye after fighting for it to be picked up by a new network after Fox's cancellation and renewed for a new season. Anyhow, Lucifer Season 5 is going to be out in 2020 on Netflix.
