With less than a month before Lover drops, Taylor Swift has released her new album's widely celebrated "track five" titled, The Archer. And for any avid fan who supported the ME! artist ever since her debut album, it is known that the fifth track in every album of hers speaks of Taylor's vulnerabilities and emotions. This is why the so-called track five has become quite popular to the fandom.
The Archer is maintained to be a very "emotional" and "intimate" track for the album just like the other fifth tracks on Taylor's previous albums. And based on reports, it seemingly appears that the artist is keeping up with her traditions when it comes to creating music and releasing albums.
Tracks like All Too Well, Delicate, and All You Had To Do Was Stay, which are all "personal" and intimate to the artist, are all listed as the fifth track in albums, Red, Reputation, and 1989 respectively. And right now, The Archer is following the same pattern for Lover, which caused, yet again, a new commotion among the fans.
According to People, the recently released single is the first one Taylor Swift has released following her feud with Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta. Although some people might say that The Archer is a pretty suitable song for her current situation, many fans have gathered that it's not.
As it happens, many of Swifties have pointed out that Taylor Swift has long foreshadowed the Archer through the music video of You Need To Calm Down and some of her social media posts. As Time has shared a few details about it, some fans even relate it to Reputation's Delicate.
In Delicate, Taylor Swift has mentioned a "bar" on the East Side. And thanks to the fans' watchful eye, they have found out that The Archer is the name of a bar located on the East Side. Some would take it as a coincidence. But considering Taylor's addiction over Easter egg hunting, avid followers think that it's not.
Aside from the links with Delicate, other fans think that The Archer is Taylor's nod to her "astrological sign," Sagittarius. Digging deeper on this aspect, it somehow tells that the archer, as a symbol, is a human. But "when represented" as a centaur, the archer is "nonhuman." And the fandom believes that Taylor is talking about herself of having two sides: she is violent, yet wise. Or she is brave, yet mild.
But whatever the case, The Archer is now available for streaming and well-loved by the fans.
