Law & Order: SVU season 21 is not arriving on NBC until later this fall, but there were a few details regarding the new ADA. It seems like the decision has been made behind the scenes, yet fans need to wait for the official and big announcement to come out.

Recently, show executive producer Julie Martin answered the question of a fan via Twitter, asking who will the new ADA in Law & Order: SVU season 21. But then, Martin joked her fellow executive producer Warren Leight would fire her if ever she revealed the news. With her answer, however, she already hinted that there would indeed be a new ADA in the upcoming installment.

While the series could go on an episode or two without an ADA since every episode wouldn't likely feature a courtroom, the role of this character is still valuable to make sure that all of the works of the SVU would not be in vain week after week. Viewers know that ADAs are an important part of the show since they are the one who's ready to serve justice, as well as making sure that criminals and assaulters do not end up back on the street.

Still, one question remains: Who will be the new ADA? Some speculated the ADA is someone fans already know, while others think it would be a new face and will bring balance within the series. Adding a new character means writers should also balance out some of the case-of-the-week stories.

In another related report, Ian McShane is on board for Law & Order: SVU season 21. According to TVLine, the American Gods and Deadwood actor will portray the role of a "charming, high-profile media mogul." Also, he would take on Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and the rest of the SVU squad after being accused of sexual assault. His character will probably deliver a little bit of chaos within the series.

Moreover, all of the series regulars will reportedly reprise their role in Law & Order: SVU season 21. Philip Winchester, however, will not be returning in the new installment as Peter Stone. His departure in season 20 finale has given enough justice, in which he told Benson that his feelings towards her had clouded his judgments - referring to what he did behind her back that puts Rob Miller (Titus Welliver) behind bars.

Law & Order: SVU season 21 is set to arrive on Thursday, September 26, on NBC.
