The new CW series Batwoman is undoubtedly all about Kate Kane and her efforts to keep Gotham City safe. However, there is one person out there who is determined to make life difficult for Ruby Rose's character. The show's villain also happens to be a woman, and it looks like she has a personal vendetta against Kate and the entire city. But why is Alice so determined to destroy Gotham?

It has already been confirmed that the mysterious Alice will be the main villain in Batwoman and will be portrayed by former Birds of Prey actress Rachel Skarsten. This certainly makes sense considering that Alice, or Red Alice in the comic books, is one of the supervillains that Kate needed to deal with. But will the show also follow Alice's comic book origins? If so, this could mean that the baddie will have an undeniable connection to Kate.

In the comic books, Alice is revealed to be Kate's twin sister Elizabeth 'Beth' Kane who Kate had presumed to be dead. The twins, along with their mother, were abducted by unknown assailants leading to the death of their mom Gabrielle. Kate, who was rescued, thought she saw her sister killed by their kidnappers. However, Beth somehow ended up being raised by the Religion of Crime.

The show seems to be taking a different approach with Alice considering that she will be introduced as the head of the Wonderland gang who have been terrorizing Gotham. In the series, Alice is a sociopath who goes from being maniacal to charming in an instant. She is also determined to see the city destroyed from the inside and is already targeting Jacob Kane's security firm. Interestingly, her intentions might confirm her true connections with the Kanes.

There is a possibility that Alice's identity will be revealed later on in Batwoman, confirming that she is Kate Kane's sister. Alice might be targeting her father's security firm because he was unable to rescue her when she was much younger. Perhaps Jacob Kane was so busy trying to protect Gotham that he couldn't save his daughter. It's a possible twist that would make sense in the CW series.

Meet Alice when Batwoman premieres on The CW on October 6.
