On July 19, David Paige Liddle was apprehended in Rhode Island after residents from Westerly reported suspicious movements made by him near Taylor Swift's beachfront mansion. And as per reports, he was found with a backpack filled with lock picks, gloves, crowbar, metal bat, screwdrivers, and a flashlight.
Liddle tried to run upon the apprehension, but fortunately, the policemen were able to handle the situation. Later on, he was held on $10,000 bail and charged with possession of burglary tools and other weapons as per ABC News.
According to the reports, the suspect explained to the police officers that he just arrived in town from New York after traveling from other neighborhoods like Nashville and Memphis, Tennesee. He also told them that he was around Taylor Swift's neighborhood to "catch up" with her to talk about his music career.
There are also claims from the same man that he knows the ME! singer personally which would then explain his arrival in the said town. Even so, his possessions tell a different story as told by the headlines. It is also worth noting that the same man has been previously reported of "stalking" the pop star as per Billboard.
Perez Hilton stated that the policemen were certain that David Lidge would pay Taylor Swift an "unplanned" visit. This is because residents near the singer's mansion saw him roaming around the property earlier that day. Fortunately, Taylor was not home and around the area when all of these things happened.
A few days after, the suspect was held at a court hearing. But while he continued to claim that he is a personal "chum" of the singer, who just wants her help toward his career, his public defender, had "no comment" about the matter.
The same is true for the You Need To Calm Down singer as no word has been heard from her ever since the apprehension. Nevertheless, the fandom continues to support Taylor Swift.
This kind of risk in her security is not a new thing for the celebrity. It has been well known as she opened up about having security problems over the last decade.
It seemingly appears that stalkers have been a very constant issue on her life and career. Even so, she made it known that she has security measures placed at hand to avoid dangers such as the recent event in her Rhode Island mansion.
