Power season 6 will premiere on Starz this coming August, but fans couldn't watch it all at once as the final installment will be split into two parts.

During the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, the network announced Power season 6 will be divided into two parts and the second half will be released on January 2020. That only means the first half of the series would likely run until early October before taking a hiatus.

Some fans and viewers were wondering as to why Starz did such a move, but it's possible the network wanted to keep the series' subscribers and to also capitalize on periods of the year. Usually, many were available in January, thus allowing them to get more viewers when the second half airs - especially since it's the show's final run.

Power season 6 will most likely wrap up before the spring starts, and this will allow Outlander season 5 to premiere. It was previously reported that the latter series would premiere early in 2020, which comes following a lengthy hiatus.

As for what to expect in Power season 6, the final chapter will still follow the tale of James St. Patrick a.k.a. Ghost. There are a lot of questions left in the previous season, and one of which is how he would react to the shooting of Angela. Another question is how he would out revenge on Tommy. The finale of the fifth season left a massive cliffhanger, leaving the fate of one major character up in the air.

The synopsis of the season 6 noted the series would pick up with Ghost seeking for revenge following the "ultimate betrayal." The final chapter will see more conflicts, as well as character battles on the other side. But apart from the action, the show also comes with intense drama, and of course, the real culmination of this arc.

Meanwhile, Power isn't the only show that follows a split season. Other shows - such as Siren, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men - followed this pattern and proved to be successful. While it's hard to maintain live ratings on Starz, the series has performed well and showed it's capable of getting that.

The first episode of Power season 6 will arrive on Sunday, August 25, on Starz. And while the upcoming season will be the last for the series, it has been confirmed that a spin-off is on the way. The network also announced during the TCA Summer Press Tour that they'd given a green light to Power Book II: Ghost, which is possibly the first of the many spin-offs set within the world.
