The second season of Siren is certainly set for an explosive conclusion. After all, it looks like the world is finally going to learn that mermaids are real and this could mean all of the mermaids are in big trouble. But will Ben Pownall and Maddie Bishop still manage to keep an eye out for Ryn? Will Siren Season 2 Episode 16 finally confirm that Ryn will need to fight on her own?
In the previous episode 'Sacrifice', the team finally figured out how to solve the mermaids' fertility issue. Unfortunately, the painful process required for Ryn to partially transform herself back to her true form. Nevertheless, it all seemed to work and everything should be working out great. Unfortunately, the tranquilized Ryn is nowhere to be found at the end of the episode because Ian Sutton had kidnapped her.
Ian Sutton has a good reason for doing what he did in Siren Season 2 Episode 15. After all, he was told that they needed concrete evidence that mermaids do exist. Unfortunately, this could lead to major disaster in Siren Season 2 Episode 16 if the truth is finally revealed to the world. Can Ben and Maddie save Ryn just in time?
The synopsis for Siren Season 2 Episode 16 certainly suggests that it will all be up to Ben. "Ben faces a choice that has rippling consequences amongst mermaid, hybrid and human alike, as the truth about mermaids is exposed," it reads. It certainly sounds like Ben is the key to Ryn's survival. Hopefully, he will make the right choice in 'New World Order'.
Not surprisingly, even the trailer for the season finale hints at huge trouble for Ben, Maddie, and Ryn as well as everyone who has been working with them all this time. Bristol Cove is under martial law and Ian is shown explaining that the mermaids are "highly evolved apex predators." Not surprisingly, that statement alone could be enough for the residents of Bristol Cove to drive out anyone who is connected to Ryn and her kin. Will everything finally fall apart in the final episode?
Can Ben and Maddie continue to protect Ryn when the secret is revealed? What will happen to the mermaids and the hybrids who are simply trying to live in peace? Siren Season 2 Episode 16 is titled 'New World Order'. It is scheduled to premiere on Freeform on August 1.
