Read at your own risk: This article may contain possible spoilers for Chicago P.D. Season 6.
When Chicago P.D. Season 6 concluded a few months ago, most of the fans thought that the Intelligence Unit would be missing one member of the team. This is true as Jon Seda, who plays the role of Antonio Dawson, bids his final goodbye on the show.
Even so, things are confirmed to change when the new season arrives this September.
According to Deadline, the unit may be one head down, but a new character will emerge as Lisseth Chavez signed a deal with Chicago P.D. Season 7. It is revealed that she will play the role of Vanessa Rojas, who happens to be a "street smart" and "fearless" undercover cop.
While the role is said to be a recurring one for the new season, there are reports already that it might change soon as the production considers her as a replacement to Seda's character in the course. It is a huge possibility considering the qualities of the new character are somehow a reflection of Dawson's traits.
But while the fans are now hoping for Lisseth Chavez to become a series regular, little has been said about the apparent status of the character.
Jon Seda's Antonio Dawson is not fully written off the course. During the final moments of Chicago P.D. Season 6, the fans have witnessed Detective Antonio swallowing a pill. Although no confirmations as to how this will play out, it is a huge indication that he might be "leading" a darker path in his arc as per TV Line.
The reason behind his exit on the show has not been revealed to the public. Nevertheless, many are assuming that the actor might be taking a break after having six installments of the show.
Aside from Lisseth Chavez's arrival, there will be new faces and characters as well on Chicago P.D. Season 7. As per Cartermatt, the popular Prison Break star, Paul Adelstein, will also play a recurring role.
Based on reports, he is said to enter the course of the show as the "new superintendent" since Kelton, who is played by John C. McGinley, has been murdered during the finale of the previous season. Accordingly, the search for his murderer will play an integral role in the upcoming season.
Chicago P.D. Season 7 will premiere on September 25, on NBC.
