The First Lady Melania Trump will be accompanying her husband, President Donald Trump, to Denmark in the fall this year.
The White House made an official announcement of the first couple's upcoming state visit, after the Scandinavian country's Queen Margrethe extended her invitation Wednesday. So far, it has only given out the dates for the visit which will be in September 2 to 3.
A detailed itinerary is not available, however it may be expected once the schedule is worked out sometime nearing the actual trip. It was only announced that the said two-day visit will make it possible for the President to attend collaborative meetings as well as an opportunity to take part in talks with some business leaders.
Mette Frederiksen, the Prime Minster of Denmark, has made some indications in a statement which point toward the Kingdom of Denmark increasing its stake in strengthening the alliance it has with the United States.
Frederiksen remarked in his recently that the U.S. represents Denmark's "most important" and "strongest ally" in the North Atlantic Alliance, saying that American and Danish soldiers are "shoulder by shoulder" in protecting security-challenged areas in the world including the European continent.
Melania's husband has been strongly advising North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) nations to allocate more to their defense budgets, and Denmark is one of those that will heeding the U.S. President's advice.
Early this year, Denmark committed itself to spending 1.5 percent of its gross domestic product come 2023, an increase from its 1.35 percent which is set aside for the present year.
It is expected that the Trumps will be getting along well with the Danish Royals who are no strangers to "petty disputes" in matters relating to royal "titles" as well as "relationships." Plus it is known that the younger royals favor the American nation.
It is known that, in 1992, Prince Frederik, the heir to the throne of Denmark, had spent a year at Harvard for studies. His wife, Crown Princess Mary, had even gone to a Houston elementary school and just this same year, had gone back to the state of Texas to attend the annual South by Southwest conferences and gathering of film and music festivals there.
Crown Prince Frederik who is known for being imperturbable is expected to get along well with the U.S. President. Trump may even end up becoming very impressed with the Danish Royals, who are known for throwing the kind of celebrations that the POTUS appreciates from like high-rollers as himself.
This upcoming trip that Mr. and Mrs. Trump will be taking shall commence on August 31 and shall be going by Poland first. The plans announced included a visit to some memorial sites in Warsaw after a ceremony to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the start of World War II.
On Tuesday, Donald Trump spoke with reporters and expressed his expectation of his Poland visit, saying that he liked "the people." It is remembered that the nation was one of the first that the POTUS traveled to shortly after his election. That was in July of 2017, and the U.S. has since increased its presence in Central European country, which is entertaining concerns over its neighbor, Russia.
