Former Manchester United captain Patrice Evra believes that Paul Pogba does not feel appreciated at the club as rumors concerning his future continues to be the talk of the town. Word is that the 26-year-old may depart Old Trafford soon, as it was reported last week he has already told Ole Gunnar of his plans to leave the club.
Pogba did not make an appearance on United's squad on Saturday during the club's penalty shootout win over AC Milan. According to Solskjaer, Pogba missed out because he had a fitness problem. Over the past few weeks, the star has been linked to his former club Juventus and Real Madrid, but Evra says that the Frenchman felt more loved in Turin than in United.
Evra, who played with Pogba at Juventus told Daily Mail that he'd been left concerned over Pogba's future. "I do know that he felt really loved in Juventus. He doesn't feel that love in Manchester," Evra said.
"We always forget what a player is about. A player is about performing on the pitch. So kill him when he is not playing well but if he is playing well, concentrate on that."
Pogba started his senior career at United in 2011, when Evra was also in the team but was offload to Juventus by Sir Alex Ferguson the year after. The France international made a name for himself at Juve as he made 178 appearances and scored 34 goals.
Earlier last month, Pogba's agent Mino Raiola said in an interview that was making plans to move Pogba to a new club. But we're a week from the Premier League season, and Pogba is still at United. He missed the last win versus Milan. But Solskjaer expects Pogba to be available for United's opening game of the campaign against Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The midfielder missed the club's final pre-season friendly against AC Milan, which saw the Red Devils draw 2-2 before winning on penalties, due to a back injury. Some reports had suggested he failed to report for the trip to south Wales in an attempt to force a move to Madrid, but Solskjaer denied those claims.
In an interview with BBC Sport, Solskjaer said that he didn't expect Pogba to travel, when asked about his absence. The manager said he spoke to the player after training and noticed that something wasn't feeling right, but assures that was an injury, but "some pain."
"I wasn't going to risk anything."
