Audi Sport's RS line of cars celebrated its 25th anniversary recently. The first model, the Audi RS2, was launched way back in 1994. Since the release of the first model, Audi has launched 25 RS models. On Tuesday, Audi confirmed that it is launching a new addition to this growing family of sports cars. Audi recently released a teaser photo essentially confirming that it will release six new Audi RS models.

One of the most noticeable models pointed out by some motoring enthusiasts is the rumored Audi RS6 Avant. This is considered as the spiritual successor to the S6 standard model.

Although the released teaser images were dark and appeared to be just silhouettes, some in the motoring community have speculated what these six new models are. However, there is one glaring feature that unites each model, and that is the performance flagship badge, which appears to be present on all the teased models. Two of the six RS Models have already made their official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. These two are the Audi RS6 Avant and the Audi RS7 Sportback.

Reports have noted that one of the reasons why Audi is reviving its performance SUV lineup is because of the recent surge of demand. Audi RS rivals like the Mercedes-AMG and the BMW M have reported a recent spike in terms of demands and sales output.

In a statement, Audi's newly appointed managing director Oliver Hoffmann said, "We have to stretch our portfolio, and the SUV segment is the segment with the most growth. There is a high demand from our customers for high-performance SUVs. The RS Q8 we will launch this year. There is really, really high demand for this type of car."

Hoffman was just recently promoted to his new post. Prior to his post in Audi, was the head of engineering. He was eventually promoted to his new position after the departure of CEO Michael-Julius Renz.

The new Audi Q3 Sportback is also expected to join the upcoming lineup release. The Audi Q3 Sportback is considered as the coupe-styled version of the Q3. The Q3 Sportback is expected to debut at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show alongside the Audi RS6 and the Audi RS7.

Rumors claim that the Q3 Sportback will be powered by a 400-horsepower inline five-cylinder engine. With this massive firepower, the SUV is expected to set some impressive records. It is expected that it can deliver a 0 to 62mph acceleration time of just four seconds.
