It appears that while most are waiting how Saul Canelo Alvarez will be facing next, internal conflicts need to be resolved first. The Mexican Brawler vented his ire on social media, posting on Twitter his disappointment for losing the IBF middleweight title recently.

Alvarez was stripped of the IBF title for failing to agree, in a timely fashion, to a title defense against Sergey Derevyanchenko. Per his Twitter post, he was unaware of what was going on and that he was not properly informed by Golden Boy Promotions (GBP). It appends growing belief that the 29-year-old pug is allegedly unhappy with Oscar De La Hoya and company right now.

According to Yahoo Sports, Alvarez has been unhappy with what has been happening right now over at Golden Boy Promotions. However, promotions president Eric Gomez was quick to address this in a telephone interview.

“Oscar and I spoke to him on the phone [Monday],” Gomez said. “We are fine. There is a lot of lies and misinformation out there. But we are working with Canelo, his team and the team at DAZN to make his next fight.”

And while the IBF title defense is now null and void, there is the question on who he will face next. Demetrius Andrade was mentioned as a possible opponent for Alvarez in a unification bout but the American says that he has heard nothing from the Golden Boy camp. Regardless, he is interested in a WBA/WBC middleweight if it is on the table, Boxing News 24 said.

If not Andrade, the name of Gennady Golovkin is also up in the air. The Kazakh KO artist signed with DAZN back in April and pundits feels that this was a move tied up to a possible third fight with Alvarez. And while GBP seems interested in making that fight, the Mexican Brawler seems not sold to it for now.

A lot of this is reportedly because Alvarez took exception to the comments made by Golovkin on his two failed drug tests. Alvarez insisted he’d eaten contaminated meat, but Golovkin didn’t buy it and blasted him.

Again, Gomez was quick to respond and said that Alvarez never said he would not fight Golovkin a third time. He believes that it would be a matter of timing and that a trilogy fight may eventually happen.

“You can ask him yourself,” Gomez said of Alvarez, who was unavailable for comment. “He’s told us, and he has said many times, if that is the fight the fans and the media want, he’ll do it.”
