Fans will once again see the inmates of Wentworth Detention Centre in Wentworth Season 8. Foxtel has renewed the show for 20 more episodes; thus, it is believed to continue until Season 9.
When the network manages to drop these new episodes, it will mark the completion of its 100 episodes. The new season is expected to be out in 2020. But, as Foxtel revealed the show would stay on the air until 2021, it is a strong indication that it would continue until Season 9, per Devdiscourse.
Details about Wentworth Season 8 remain under wraps. Even its cast members had no idea how the show would run when Season 7 ended.
Celia Ireland, who played the role of Elizabeth aka Liz, told the WHO magazine that cast didn't know the show's future for a full year after Season 1 concluded. In fact, they were in doubt if the series would continue beyond the first installment as they were still waiting for the news. "There's no way we could envisage that it would get to Season 7, or beyond," she said.
Meanwhile, ahead of Wentworth Season 8's release, Netflix already dropped Season 7 on the platform. Fans can now start binge-watching the series from its first episode up to the finale in one seating.
According to Decider, the list of new movies and television series coming to Netflix for July includes Wentworth Season 7. It was set to be released on Wednesday, July 31. New shows usually come at around 3:01 a.m., but at 11:30 a.m., Seasons 1 to 6 were the only ones available.
The delay was reportedly because of the time the Season 7 finale aired in Australia. As the scheduled new season release on Netflix was only less than 24-hours after the final episode was out, it caused a setback.
Anyhow, the complete episodes of Wentworth Season 7, Episode 1 to 10, are now available on Netflix. Unfortunately, the show is not easy to stream in the U.S. without a Netflix account.
Seasons 1 to Season 3 episodes can be bought on Amazon, but Seasons 4 to 7 are not available to watch on Prime Video, Hulu, Google Play, or even Vudu. Season 7 follows the Season 6 events.
Here, Marie (Susie Porter) and Rita (Leah Purcell) are at war. It also introduces two new characters: Sean Brody (Rick Donald) and Dr. Greg Miller (David de Lautour).
Fortunately, fans will once again see their favorite inmates in Wentworth Season 8. It is expected to be out in May 2020 on Foxtel.
