Xiaomi recently announced that the popular Pocophone F1 it will no longer be available on its authorized Mi stores in the Philippines. The Chinese smartphone maker made headlines a year ago when it released the Poco F1 equipped with Snapdragon 845 SoC and went toe to toe against upper midrange devices. But, the previous announcement sends ripples to other regions considering that Xiaomi is planning to release the Xiaomi Mi 90 Pro.
According to the Chinese smartphone maker, although there are demands for the Pocophone F1, consumers should get the latest Xiaomi Mi 9T. The smartphone runs on Snapdragon 730, and although it is not as powerful as the SD 845, it has a lot to offer. This includes the notch-less AMOLED display and the under-display fingerprint scanner that the Poco F1 does not have.
Although Xiaomi already announced that the Pocophone F1 will no longer be available some fans are still not convinced as seen in the comments section. There are several others even inquiring if the Redmi K20 Pro will be released in the region. And, Xiaomi only answered that fans just have to stay tuned.
Will the discontinuance of Pocophone F1 in the Philippines the start of the discontinuance of the device in other regions as well? This is the nagging question that Xiaomi must answer to its consumers. Pocophone F1 is one of the most popular smartphones from Xiaomi because it really proves that it is a flagship killer device with its high-level of technical specifications and very affordable retail price.
Is it possible that Xiaomi is phasing out the device and positioning the Xiaomi Mi 9T in the market as the Poco F1? Or is it the company's way of removing the Poco F1 in the market in preparation for the Pocophone F2 of the Poco F2? At this moment, nothing is officially confirmed by the company.
What we know so far is that the only official statement about the Pocophone F2 is that it will not be canceled, but it will take some time for it to be released in the market. We also saw leaked images of Geekbench scores for devices termed as Poco F2 with standard test results. There was also a leaked image of the case protector of the Pocophone F2 earlier this month.
While we do not know yet if Pocophone F1 will also be discontinued in other regions like India, Malaysia, Thailand, and other countries, consumers are hoping that Xiaomi will share more details about the Pocophone F2. As for the leaked images, take these with a pinch of salt.
