There is one particular reason why people are currently looking forward to NCIS Season 17, and it has a lot to do with a certain character's unexpected return. The final episode of the 16th season concluded with Cote De Pablo's Ziva David suddenly appearing in Jethro Gibbs' basement with a warning about his life being in danger. However, the idea of Gibbs being in trouble wasn't exactly the reason why people were so concerned. What happened to Ziva, and how did she manage to return after her lengthy absence?
Ziva David is certainly one character that fans have wanted to return for several years. After all, Cote De Pablo's exit was so abrupt that there was barely any time to give her character a proper send-off. In addition to that, Ziva's fate was left ambiguous as she was presumed dead although her body was never found. Luckily, it has been confirmed that Ziva is very much alive and is returning in NCIS Season 17.
It was revealed that Ziva David would be back in the premiere episode of Season 17 which could mean she will be helping Jethro Gibbs find safety. Not surprisingly, people believe this could be the perfect time for Ziva to explain to Gibbs where she has been hiding all this time and what she has been up to during her absence. Unfortunately, there is a huge possibility that the first episode will focus on Gibbs and why he is in trouble in the first place. However, that doesn't mean that Cote De Pablo will not return in more episodes that will focus solely on her character.
Fans are hoping that NCIS Season 17 will have an entire hour dedicated to Ziva David's story. It could feature a flashback on how she survived the mortar attack that supposedly took her life. Additionally, the special episode might even reveal that she has been keeping track of her daughter Tali as well as Tony DiNozzo all this time. Hopefully, it could end with Ziva being reunited with her family.
It certainly seems like the perfect way to reintroduce Ziva David to fans although she hardly needs one. In addition to that, it should explain everything that happened to the character and establish Ziva as the best replacement for Jethro Gibbs. However, it is important to point out that these are still based on speculations. With that in mind, it's best to take it with a grain of salt.
