After almost six years, viewers are still waiting for the coming of Magi Season 3. The studio behind the manga series remains mum about its future. Despite this, fans stay hopeful that the show will continue.
The first season, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, first aired in June 2009. Illustrated and written by Shinobu Ohtaka, it followed the stories of Aladdin, 1001 Arabian Nights, Sinbad the Sailor, and Ali Baba.
Season 2, Magi: The Kingdom of Magic, premiered in October 2013, four years after Season 1. After three years, it was followed by the spinoff, Magi: Adventure of Sinbad, in 2016. Since then, there was no news about Magi Season 3.
According to Quora, sources said it is highly unlikely for Magi Season 3 to happen. There is no news from the series' makers. So, fans who wanted to continue the show's story are advised just to read the manga instead.
Season 1 was loosely based on the stories from the Middle-Eastern folk tales. It was depicted in Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic and Magi: The Kingdom of Magic that took place 15 years after Magi: Adventure of Sinbad.
The anime series was set in a mystical world, where there were mysterious buildings, called dungeons, which emerged 15 years ago. When these dungeons came out, adventures ensued. Armies even tried to conquer these quests to get the treasures and the power it had.
However, although a lot of them tried the voyage, everyone failed. Any human who entered these dungeons would be forever gone. From here, Sinbad arrived and became the first man to conquer some of the dungeons.
In Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, magi, the legendary magicians who were kingmakers, was the only one who could enter the dungeons, but survived and conquered them all, per Cinemaholic. Although the prequel followed Sinbad and his adventures at the time when these dungeons were still unconquered, Season 1 took place 15 years after Sinbad's conquests and followed the young magi named Aladdin.
After being trapped in a room, Aladdin managed to escape in hopes to explore the world with his aid, Ugo. He became friends with Alibaba, and they conquered a dungeon together. Throughout the show, Aladdin made new friends and dealt with the evil forces of Sindria.
After the prequel's release in 2016, fans are still hopeful for Magi Season 3. Whether it will be made or not, there are assumptions it can be out in 2021 or 2022.
