Legacies season 2 is scheduled to return this fall. But, there's good news about the story development of one character. Matt Davis, who portrays Alaric Saltzman, teased that his character will find new love in the upcoming installment.
Davis' Saltzman is one of the most yet complex characters within The CW series, especially since he has been a father figure to the pupils at the Salvatore School. Even though he exhibits magical charm, the character's journey has been considered complicated and saddest so far.
Davis, however, assured things would get better for his character in Legacies season 2. During the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, the actor told MEA Worldwide that Alaric is the embodiment of a "tragic hero" and he's in a cycle where he continually seeks happiness and love - both being snatched up in his life.
Davis compared his character to Sisyphus, largely because Alaric has been rolling up the rock. However, he keeps going back down. The actor is hoping this pattern would get broken in Legacies season 2 and teased that his character finds a new love interest.
While Davis also teased a new designation between Mystic Falls High School and Salvatore School may or may not spark a new rivalry, the arrival of her new love interest made fans more excited. The actor further hints the new woman could be a "mom with two kids."
Aside from Alaric's new love interest, the character also needs to face the harsh reality; his daughter has been desperately and unapologetically confronting him, seeking for answers about themselves, particularly about the merge.
Legacies season 2 will kick off with Alaric being voted off the island, hinting he felt betrayed by the votes. David said his character would probably spend his summer growing his beard, as well as his hair, and he's feeling resentful about the whole experience.
Meanwhile, other cast members expected to return in the second season include Danielle Rose Russell (as Hope Mikaelson),Candice King as (Caroline Forbes), Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert), Jenny Boyd (Lizzie Salesman), Karen David (Emma Tig), and Kaylee Brant (as Josie Salesman). It was also confirmed that there will be a new vampire in the upcoming installment.
Showrunner Julie Plec hopes viewers will love the nostalgia and familiarity the show brings and she also hopes fans would appreciate the new things they bring compared to their previous works.
Legacies season 2 will return on Thursday, October 10, on The CW.
