An upgraded MacBook Pro is coming soon. It should become the apex of Apple's MacBook lineup. Here's what you need to know.

The IHS Markit Data previously predicted that Apple will skip the AMOLED display and will opt a for 3,072-by-1,920 resolution LCD instead. The Cupertino tech giant will upgrade the resolution on the 16-inch Pro to 227 PPI according to Jeff Lin, which similar to what the Retina MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro have.

It's possible that the 2019 MacBook Pro will have the same chassis as the 15.4-inch MacBook Pro, which means it will come with the same size, only with smaller bezels and a bigger display. Lin also said that the 15.4-inch MacBook Pro would be taken off the market soon.

The 15.4-inch MBP is configurable up to Radeon Pro Vega with an HBM2 memory of 4GB. We're not sure if Apple plans to boost the existing specs up or retain what the current model has.

As for the processors, Apple decided to maintain the Intel Coffee Lake-H Refresh chips. The fastest of the fast is the Core i9-9880H Processor (launched in the second quarter of this year), which has a base frequency of 2.40 GHz and a max Turbo Boost frequency of 5 GHz and packs 8 cores.

Now for something interesting, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple will launch a new scissor-switch keyboard on the 2019 MacBook Air, but the new MacBook Pro won't be getting keyboard tweaks until next year.

Undoubtedly, the new 16-inch MacBook Pro will be the company's premier MacBook, but some configs mirror the current 15.4-inch lineup.

The mid-2019 15.4-inch MBP starts at $2,300. This has a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 six-core processor, 16GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB SSD. A higher specced 15.4 inch is at $5,150, which has a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 six-core processor, 16GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB SSD.

Production for the 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro will reportedly start in September. Again, we're not sure yet if this means there will be an October or November release.

It's also possible that Apple could just tease the new 16-inch MacBook Pro at the iPhone event and actually release it alongside other Mac hardware at the October event. The MacBook Air was recently updated but the processor is the same as last year, so an internally updated Air could be on the cards.
