It's already 2019, but ageism and sexism are still around. Taylor Swift largely voiced about the matter, especially on sexism, in her latest interview with Vogue. And after receiving harsh comments from Kid Rock, Bebe Rexha also revealed that she had just received one from a male music executive recently.
In an Instagram post that the Take Me Home singer posted, she revealed in the caption what went down with the said executive. According to her, this huge person in the music industry had told her that her "branding" is now becoming "confusing."
She detailedly uncovered that this male music executive also told her that this is not what a "female songwriter" should do, especially in her age, 29. Since is she now reaching the age of 30, therefore, her "sexy photos" on Instagram are no longer making sense.
This revelation that Bebe Rexha made a few hours ago was followed by a call out. The 29-year-old singer wrote along with it her thoughts about the matter. And as per her statement, she is "fed up" and "tired" of women getting labels, especially when they age and get old. She also reiterated how guys get labeled as "sexy" when they age, which only emphasizes what she is trying to point out.
But with all of these negative things at hand, Bebe Rexha did not hide the fact that she is truly turning 30 this August 30. And she went on to highlight that she is not "running away." She proudly shared that she will "celebrate" her age because she knows that she is much wiser, stronger, and "better lover" than she was ten years ago.
Quite obviously, this immediately caused a huge commotion among the fans. Even so, they have largely expressed their love and support to the singer. And as per Elle, several artists from the industry also declared their stands about the matter, including especially Taylor Swift.
The You Need To Calm Down singer commented on her post stating that Bebe Rexha should "drag them." She also went on to state that 29-year-olds should "unite" considering that Taylor Swift is also of the same age.
According to Cheat Sheet, Rita Ora also commented and told her that she is beautiful and getting "sexier" with age. Not to mention that her talent "sings for itself." So, she should keep on making the rules for herself as what Bebe Rexha has pointed out.
