Tottenham Hotspurs is allegedly going to make a big offer to Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen to fend off other teams' interest. The midfielder's future is still not certain, and he has only a year left on his current contract with the Spurs. Teams like Juventus and Real Madrid are considering a move for Eriksen.
A new report claims that Tottenham is set to try and make its last-ditch move to persuade Christian Eriksen to remain with the team. The Danish national has barely a year left on his contract and could leave the White Hart Lane earlier than the European club transfer window closes. During the opening of the Premier League, Christian Eriksen sat on the bench for Spurs when the team played against Aston Villa.
Speculations immediately claim that benching Christian Eriksen was due to transfer rumors. However, this was vehemently denied by Tottenham's boss Mauricio Pochettino. The team is anticipated to make a bumper deal to the Danish playmaker to ward off interest from other teams. It is worth noting that Eriksen is one of the top earners in the team earning £80,000 every week.
According to a recent report Tottenham is willing to double the amount that Christian Eriksen is currently receiving to up to £200,000 just to keep him. If the team fails to let the Danish midfielder to sign a new contract and ends up leaving the team, the Spurs would be in a compromising condition. With the player's contract expiring at the end of the current season, Tottenham faces the possibility of losing the £100M-rated player for nothing in the upcoming summer.
Additionally, the report also suggests that if Christian Eriksen agrees to sign a new contract with Tottenham, he would ask for several clauses to be included into the new agreement that will allow him to transfer to other teams. There is a limited option left for the team in regards to Christian Eriksen. But, they could cash in the Danish midfielder now considering that Juventus and Real Madrid are also interested with him.
It is highly unlikely for the Tottenham Spurs to get the full valuation of Christian Eriksen by way of a fee because the team is in a dire situation with his contract. While Juventus and Madrid were considered as possibilities, the player options, however, are limited although both are willing to sit down with the Spurs once again. Christian Eriksen's performance in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Aston Villa underlined his role in the team.
