CBS has given its early renewal decision toward God Friended Me. On January of this year, the network has already given the green light for the show's second season. And even if it was scheduled to conclude its course on April, the network did not hesitate to confirm its renewal decisions ahead of the first season finale.
With this kind of decision, it only goes to show how the new dramedy series was able to impress CBS throughout its pilot run. And as per The Hollywood Reporter, God Friended Me was able to break several CBS records when it comes to the network's series material offerings.
During its first season run, it has been revealed that the show has ranked as CBS' second most-watched series. Also, it has been deemed as Sunday's most-watched scripted material, thanks to its impressive 10 million viewers per episode on an average note. And with these records at hand, it has become quite impressive that it became no longer a surprise to the fandom as to why CBS renewed the show.
Little has been shared about the upcoming season of God Friended Me. For all the fans know, the new installment will arrive on CBS this fall.
In terms of its plot, the series is hinted to pick up where it ended in its previous season. And that is with a new character's arrival when she approached Miles and told him that "God" has sent her a friend suggestion for him.
Accordingly, this newfound knowledge that Miles obtained essentially points out that he is not the only one who is friend with the anonymous "God account." And the possibility of tackling this aspect for the second season is very high.
In an interview with TV Line, series creators, Steven Lilien, and Bryan Wynbrandt revealed a few details about the show's future course. And as per the statements, it seemingly appears that the second season will center on Mile's eagerness and "reinvented" enthusiasm over the account's identity.
Also, they have stressed out the new character's arrival in the first season finale and how she will bring a huge change in the narrative and dynamic of the show.
So far, these are the only details that have been shared about the show. But fortunately, the network has already revealed its final release date.
God Friended Me Season 2 will premiere on September 29, on CBS.
