Archer season 11 is officially coming back on FXX and the renewal announcement was made by executive producer Matt Thompson during the SDCC 2019, just a few weeks before the season 10 wrapped up. Here's what we know so far about the upcoming installment, including possible release date and what to expect.

The official release dare of Archer season 11 remains uncertain, but the new season will likely return in 2020. It can be noted that the premiere of each season happened between March and May since season 7, so the arrival of the eleventh installment will possibly fall around these months as well. Also, season 11 has been renewed with enough time to start production to gear up for a spring 2020 release.

But, the official air date will not be announced until the trailer of the Archer season 11 is released. The voices of H. Jon Benjamin (Sterling Archer), Lucky Yates (Dr. Algernop Krieger), Jessica Walter (Malory Archer), Chris Parnell (voices Cyril Figgis), Aisha Tyler (Lana Kane), Amber Nash (Pam Poovey), Adam Reed (Ray Gillette), and Judy Greer (Cheryl Tunt) are all expected to come back for the new season.

At the time of Archer season 11 renewal, the official story or season-long theme was not yet revealed as well. In previous seasons, Archer evolved around a different theme due to the side effects of the titular character falling into a coma. But executive producer Casey Willis has confirmed the character would be waking up from his coma in the new season.

In season 10 finale, the last few minutes showed Archer fighting with his enemy Barry in space. But, the titular character's spaceship exploded as they fought. In the end, Archer woke up and he's back in the hospital - where there story him at the end of season 7. He's still alive and his mother Mallory has been sitting by his hospital bed over the past three years.

Other characters fates weren't revealed, but Thompson said the story would pick up from there. Willis, on the other hand, said they're all excited for Archer season 11, and they look forward to the titular character waking up from his coma and going back to the spy world that continued without him for three years.

In the past three seasons, the events happened in Archer took place in the titular character's mind while he's in a coma. Season 8 titled "Dreamland' sent him 1940s Los Angeles - styled like a noir film, while season 9's "Danger Island" was set in 1938 on a deserted island with an Indiana Jones vibes. And then, season 10's "1999" follows Archer living and working aboard a salvage spaceship.
