In less than a month, It: Chapter 2 will finally arrive to continue its plot that wrapped up in 2017. Just like the first movie, the second film is revealed to be based on Stephen King's 1986 best-selling novel of the same title.
While many have thought that the next chapter will be a sequel, it is told to be much more of a "continuation" than a sequel. This is because the upcoming film will not just be another second movie to depict a new story of Pennywise. Instead, It: Chapter 2 is revealed to take place 27 years after the initial events of the first movie, It.
According to CNET, the cast of the first film, especially the members of the Losers Club, will be back to reprise their roles. But since the main premise will focus on the events that are about to occur 27 years after, the young actors will be featured in the show's flashbacks.
This only goes to show that the upcoming movie will star new cast members to portray the roles of the kids' adult counterparts. As for Pennywise, Bill Skarsgård will return to reprise the role.
What's interesting in It: Chapter 2 is the fact that the movie will return to the 1600s when the dancing clown was first introduced in the form of a violent man. So, it is already a hint that Bill Skarsgård might appear differently in the upcoming film.
As per Deadline, this next chapter of It is not "clowning around" considering the amount of money that the production is willing to "set on fire" for its opening. With an amount above $120 million, the production is not fooling anyone at all.
This is probably one of the main factors as to why It: Chapter 2 is becoming today's most-awaited horror film. Some even deem it as the biggest and terrifying film for 2019. Others would compare it to other films, along with their franchises, like The Conjuring and Annabelle.
It said that the movie would have a total of 2 hours, 49 minutes of the screening period. And this is quite lengthy in comparison to the first film and other popular horror films today which poses a lot of raising eyebrows.
But even so, the heads and bosses of the movie explicitly claim that the movie's pacing is just enough and suitable. So, there is nothing to complain about it, especially when the key individuals of the production were said to be entirely satisfied with the whole movie alongside its length and content.
It: Chapter 2 will premiere on September 6, on theaters.
