The first season of The Rook has just recently concluded, but will the Starz series be coming back for another installment? Right now, there's no confirmed news that The Rook season 2 is happening, especially since the season 1 finale has just aired on August 18.

Starz hasn't yet released an official statement regarding the renewal status of The Rook season 2, but there's a chance the series will be coming back for another installment. Perhaps, the network is waiting for a few weeks to determine the stand of the show, particularly if the program does well in terms of ratings.

However, a series like The Rook might be difficult to gauge, especially since the live ratings on Starz only shows a small picture of the overall numbers. The network is releasing episodes during midnight, but a lot of viewers might opt to watch an episode in advance before it airs. And in terms of live ratings, the series is just drawing an average of 230,000 live viewers.

These digits aren't impressive, especially when compared to other Starz's series. For instance, The Rook's live rating is less than half the live audience for The Spanish Princess and just less than a quarter of the audience of the network's highest-rated shows Power and Outlander. Thus, it should generate a great streaming viewership to have a chance to continue moving forward on The Rook season 2.

But as per CarterMatt, there's a chance the program will last for many years. Even though there are many shows out there featuring a character with power, the series has a different style and tone, most especially when it comes to mysteries. And if ever, The Rook season 2 may expand its work and could introduce viewers into a different direction.

There's also a chance new faces will be introduced in the series, as the show already set a standard for weirdness. The Rook is based on a novel of the same name by Daniel O'Malley, and it follows Myfanwy Thomas (Emma Greenwell) who suddenly wakes up with no memory of who she is and why she's surrounded with dead bodies.

Later on, she found out that she is a high-ranking official in Checquy: the last secret agency in Britain for people who have paranormal abilities. Myfanwy is on a mission to find out who she is, who wiped her memory, and why she's being targeted, and at the same time navigating the complex world of a secret agency and those who are part of it.
