New reports claim that the public might have their first-look at the Mustang-inspired electric SUV from Ford in November. The teaser for the long-awaited crossover model allegedly will be released a month before the year ends. Interestingly, the upcoming electric SUV from Ford reportedly will be called Mach E.
It's been almost a year ago when we first heard about the Mustang-inspired electric SUV from Ford and if the latest claims are accurate we might see it by November. According to a new report, the model will be included in the new Ford Icons group that will design models associated with historical names like Bronco and Mustang. According to Ford's director of regional product line management for Ford icons Amy Marentic, the company is rallying on the iconic products.
She added that they have the responsibility to ensure that these vehicles will be around for the next five to six decades. The announcement of the plans to launch the Mustang-inspired electric SUV was made in January 2018 and the company promised that the vehicle will be available by 2020. At a subsequent press conference, the automaker disclosed that the upcoming model will have a Mustang-inspired appearance.
In regards to the powertrain details of the Mustang-inspired electric SUV, official details are scarce at the moment. However, rumors have it that Ford will release the vehicle in a couple of ranges. The basic variant can go over 300 miles or 484 kilometers while the other model can travel as far as 373 miles or 600 kilometers.
Earlier speculations claim that there might be a high-performance variant but so far it is not clear if this will be a different variant or is still a part of the long-range Mustang-inspired electric SUV model. Initially, the automaker planned to call the vehicle Mach 1 however; fans despised the idea of using the name of the popular Mustang variant for an electric vehicle. Several speculations also claim that Ford plans to release the model in 2019 and have it on sale by 2021.
Another report claims that the upcoming Mustang-inspired electric SUV could be released with the name Mach E. This was discovered by TheDrive when Ford filed trademark protection for Mach E and Mach-E at the US patent and trademark Office. The patent filing particularly points to use on motor vehicles namely sport utility vehicles, electric vehicles, trucks, and passenger automobiles. These are not official confirmations but leaks, and as with all leaks take these details with a pinch of salt and with an ounce of skepticism.
