While many royal fans are rooting for a reunion between Prince Andrew the Duke of York and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, things might not be so smooth sailing for a reconciliation.

According to a report from Express UK, Prince Charles is opposed to his brother getting back together again with his ex-wife because of her closeness with the late Princess Diana.

Royal insider Dan Wootton said that Prince Charles remains adamant against his former sister in law because Fergie took Diana's side over Camilla at the height of their marital issues. Diana's sons William and Harry, on the other hand, are all for it because they like their aunt very much. The princes are also close with their cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Reports of a reconciliation surfaced when it became public that the former couple have been living at the lodge in Windsor together for some time. Rumors hint that they are in a committed relationship and are not seeing anyone else.

Like Prince Charles and Princess Diana, the couple also split in 1996 after parting ways in 1992. However, the Duke and Duchess of York have been appearing in public together more frequently these days and Fergie has not been shy in posting about her ex-husband on her social media.

Based on a report from the Mirror, a source from the Palace clarified that Prince Andrew and Fergie are not back together but they have a very strong relationship.

"The two of them are not involved in relationships with anyone else, which of course likely to fuel rumors of an unlikely reunion. They very much enjoy each other's company and their public displays of affection for one another are becoming more frequent," the insider explained.

The recent statement from the Duchess of York's spokesperson seems to confirm this. "The Duke and Duchess of York continue to be good friends and nothing has changed in their relationship."

Meanwhile, other news outfits like the Sun are continuing to claim that the relationship of the Duke and Duchess of York is more than platonic and implied that Fergie has been sticking close to Prince Andrew as he faces the ordeal of being involved in his former close friend Jeffrey Epstein's sex scandal.

"She wants to be his shoulder to cry on. She wants to be there for him in his hour of need. She feels this is like the old days when they would take on the world together," the outfit quoted their royal insider.
