The Dragon Prince season 3's release date is not yet set in stone. But the show is certain to return as the cast and crew have actively promoted the show at the recent Comic-Con in San Diego.

In March, Netflix announced that The Dragon Prince season 3 is coming soon with a cool poster. Creator Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond, on the other hand, shared some details of the upcoming installment to the fans at the convention.

While The Dragon Prince season 3 has been confirmed to be subtitled as "Sun," the creators said that it's likely going to be the final season of the animated series. However, they are still working out another show with a working title called The Dragon Prince (Name Withheld), which should bring the total story of the franchise to a seven-season arc, per Inverse.

Ehasz also said that fans could help Netflix decide to commission this other series if they show the platform that there is a strong demand for The Dragon Prince saga. Meanwhile, they are still working on The Dragon Prince season 3 and Ehasz has also teased what's coming up next.

Amaya and Gren will be reunited in The Dragon Prince season 3 while Harrow is dead and gone. However, the character could likely appear in flashback scenes in some of the episodes.

Callum, on the other hand, will grow more powerful as he explores other forms of magic in The Dragon Prince season 3. There will also be episodes touching on Rayla's past and the mystery of the dragon eggs.

Netflix released the official synopsis of The Dragon Prince season 3 stating that the new storyline "finds Rayla and Callum finally at the cusp of entering Xadia, while young Ezran returns home to take his place on the throne." The synopsis further cites that Lord Viren will see the effects of his "influence and power of his new ally - the mysterious Startouch elf, Aaravos."

Expect The Dragon Prince season 3 to be a massively epic outing. Fans speculate that the new episodes will drop on the platform in late 2020.

The Dragon Prince season 1 or "Moon," came out in September 2018 with nine half-hour episodes. The second season subtitled "Sky" was released in February 2019 with nine half-hour episodes as well. So far, there are no teasers to The Dragon Prince season 3. The creators are also closely developing and collaborating a video game release of the franchise.

The Dragon Prince features the voices of Jack DeSerna, Paula Burrows, Sasha Rojen, Jason Simpson, Racquel Belmonte, Jesse Inocalla, Eric Todd Dellums, Kazumi Evans, and Adrian Petriw. Villads Spangsberg and Giancarlo Volpe direct the episodes.
