A fan-favorite creature may be seen in Game of Thrones Prequel as teased by George R.R. Martin himself. The 70-year-old author seemed to confirm the arrival of Ice Dragon in the spinoff series in a new interview.

The show has wrapped up the filming of its first episode, although it is still in development. But if the series goes beyond its pilot, according to Express, it may introduce the return of Ice Dragon on TV.

"I've a lot of my stuff in various stages of development," Martin said. "Sandkings, The Ice Dragon, Wild Cards, and of course we're developing a number of Game of Thrones prequels that are drawn in large part from Fire and Blood, the book of Targaryen history that I had out in November."

Martin earlier confirmed the House of Stark, Direwolves and the White Walkers would make their way on Game of Thrones Prequel. So, is there a chance that the legendary flying creatures will be seen?

By the looks of it, Ice Dragon may not be seen on the spinoff series but in another prequel that may be in the works. There are several other books that Martin wrote that are now in development after the success of the original Game of Thrones.

Martin's Ice Dragon, too, has two versions. One is the short story for adults that is seen in the 1980 anthology Dragons of Light, and another one in the children book that reworked the tale in 2007. As HBO remains mum about the prequel, it is yet to be known if this creature will make its way to the series.

Meanwhile, talking about Game of Thrones Prequel, Martin revealed he is expecting to see its pilot soon. The first episode's production wrapped up in Belfast in July, and its showrunner, Jane Goldman, is busy working on its post-production process. However, the main brain behind the series is expecting to see the final output more likely in early September, per JOE.

Goldman's take of the series will be set 5,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It is based on "eight random sentences" that are scattered through Martin's books. By the famed novelist's words, the screenwriter "brought a lot to the table."

Martin went on to say that when they met in a few occasions, they had long talks about the Game of Thrones Prequel before she started working on it. However, she only had a few little signposts for the spinoff along the way.
