Anne with an E first premiered on CBC in March 2017 and has become one of the popular shows on Netflix right now, with seasons 1 and 2 available to stream on the platform. The Canadian drama series is based on Lucy Maud Montgomery's 1908 classic novel, Anne of Green Gables.
The series follows an orphan girl with bright red hair and colorful imagination, named Anne (plays by Amybeth McNulty). Anne likes to emphasize her name with an "e," and gets adopted by an elderly brother-sister duo, Matthew (R.H. Thomson) and Marilla (Geraldine James), who have been live a repeatedly quite life every day.
The first season featured how Anne settled into her new life and how the people around her get used to her, while season 2 featured loyalties and new friendship. In Anne with an E season 3, MEA Worldwide reported it would focus on a new romance between Anne and Gilbert (Lucas Jade Zumann), who's been dreaming of his future as a doctor.
The upcoming installment will reportedly address relevant issues as well, particularly gender parity, feminism, identity, and bullying. Anne is turning 16 years old in Anne with an E season 3, and she's slowly turning into a woman and needs to deal with grown-up issues, including relationships and discoveries.
Anne also wants to discover more about her birth parents in this season. Also, the new installment will introduce its first "Indigenous storyline" and characters, wherein the town of Green Gables will interact with a camp of the Mi'kmaq nation. Hence, the upcoming season will be introducing new characters as well.
Some also predicted big death is coming in Anne with an E season 3, with some speculated Ruby (Kyla Matthews) might be facing her tragic end. Many past adaptations have tried to remove gruesome deaths, though CBC might probably stick to its original plotline.
Anne with an E season 3 is set to come on Sunday, September 22, on CBC, though its official release date on Netflix is yet to be announced. As per some reports, however, the new season might be available in the streaming giant in either late summer 2019 or early fall 2019.
