This might seem sad but true: wearing the same old clothes every time will surely make your #OOTD or outfit of the day boring. To fix this problem, people nowadays have been passionate about making new ways to create new vibe off their old dress, pants, shirt, skirts, or even shawls.

Aside from styling and sewing their old clothes to create brand new masterpieces, one of the usual things people do is change its color. But did you know that textile dyeing can be harmful to you and the environment?

How worst can these dyeing chemicals be? "When chemicals used in making synthetic dyes find their way into water bodies, they affect human health and cause the death of water ecosystems," as stated by the Fabric of the World. Furthermore, exposure to such toxins can cause cancer, especially once absorbed by the skin.

Good thing nature offers an option where you don't have to rely on these dangerous synthetic fabric dyes to make your clothes anew anymore. There are some fruits and vegetables you can use to create new vibes of colors to your favorite clothing. A Facebook page named Blossom shared a video where viewers can learn the details.

BLACK BEANS

Black beans are not just perfect for your Korean side dish. These legumes are also best to use if you want to give your favorite shirt a nice blue hue. Soak your clothing in a bowl with water and few cups of black beans for about 24 hours to achieve your desired color.

RED CABBAGE

Red cabbage always has its way to give your favorite salad a touch of surprise due to its colorful reddish-violet hue. But only a few know that this vegetable can also be effective in adding greenish color to one's favorite clothing. Just soak your shirt with cabbage, water, and baking soda. The mixture will help release the teal dye.

WHITE ONIONS

White onion has tannins in it. This polyphenolic biomolecule can give off a yellow dye. So if you want your boring clothes to turn into this bright and lively color, go ahead and soak your dress in white onions and water. Don't forget to boil the water for it to be more effective.

Throwing away your wardrobe once you get bored with your everyday outfit was never the solution. Remember, global waste has already become one of the problems our world is facing now. Including your old clothes to this garbage won't help.

So go ahead and turn on your artistic side. Play with your ideas and creativeness. Your imagination will be your limit.
