The Blacklist season 7 is all set to return for a bigger showdown. Following the events of last season, with Liz (played by Megan Boone) learning that her mother Katarina (played by Laila Robins) is not dead, the upcoming installment will delve deeper into this dysfunctional family dynamics. But does Liz have reason to trust what Red Reddington (played by James Spader) has revealed?

In a new teaser poster, the message of The Blacklist season 7 seems pretty clear. Written across the red, black and white key art are the words: "He told you not to trust him" which is obviously a message for Liz.

The Blacklist season 7 is currently in the middle of production. Star Amir Arison (as Aram Mojtaba) also teased on Twitter that the first few scripts are jaw-dropping. Knowing Arison's storyline, he's likely not just talking about the events surrounding Liz and Red but also his character's breakup with Samar (played by Mozhan Marnò).

Marnò confirmed in March that she was no longer signing on for The Blacklist season 7. Her character was written out as leaving the country and breaking things off with Aram.

The latter originally planned to go with his girlfriend and they were set out to have new identities. However, Samar didn't want him to go because it might ruin his life and he would resent her.

Will The Blacklist season 7 show Aram as ready to move on from Samar? Will he also be helping the team track down Red who took off with Liz's mom?

NBC renewed The Blacklist season 7 and remains one of the network's strong performers after many years. It's also the most upscale drama series among the big networks.

Spade actually renewed his contract for The Blacklist season 7 earlier than the rest of the cast. But while his co-stars went into negotiations with the network, Spader has apparently just signed on for one more year. It's not yet clear if he is returning for more, should NBC decide to renew the series.

Meanwhile, The Blacklist averaged 7.3 million in live viewers last season on its Friday 9:00 p.m. slot. It's set to return also on Friday beginning Oct. 4 at an earlier time at 8:00 p.m.
