Meghan Markle isn't feeling the heat of the private jet controversy aimed at her and her husband, Prince Harry. Despite receiving harsh criticisms from the public in recent weeks, the Duchess of Sussex is not letting it all get to her.
According to Vanity Fair, Duchess Meghan has responded to the controversy by choosing not to worry about it. Instead, she's focusing her energy on upcoming projects once she's back from her maternity leave, including the clothing line she's launching for the charity organization Smart Works.
"She's moving on and riding above the storm," according to an insider who intimated to Vanity Fair. "She's not wasting time or energy on the row over the private jets. Instead, she's getting very excited about the new launch."
Duchess Meghan is also setting her mind on the upcoming South African tour with Prince Harry and their son Archie Harrison for two weeks this September. The source also said that the former Suits actress is sure that this storm will eventually die down.
In August, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry took a private jet to spend her birthday in Ibiza, Spain. A few days later, the Sussex royals were on the air again to holiday in Nice, France. Before these two flights, Prince Harry took a private jet to travel to an eco-summit in Sicily.
Critics said that these choices were hypocritical since both Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry say they are environmentalists. However, they are privileged to use facilities that harm the earth, such as a private jet.
The criticisms against Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry pushed their celebrity friends to speak up and defend the couple. Elton John posted a message on his Instagram to say that the reports against the Sussex royals have been distorted and malicious. He also said that he believes in Prince Harry's commitment to the environment, and it was the singer who provided the private jet, which had been running on carbon-neutral to lessen its carbon footprint.
Popular talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and singer P!nk also defended Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry. P!nk said that the criticisms are a form of bullying and it's getting out of hand.
"They were the most down-to-earth, compassionate people," DeGeneres said of the Sussex royals. "Imagine being attacked for everything you do, when all you're trying to do is make the world better."
