Ballers is back with its fifth and final season as Spencer Strasmore (Dwayne Johnson) is about to say goodbye. The show still has eight episodes to feature before it officially comes to an end and Episode 3 will show how Jason (Troy Garity) will be torn between Spencer and Joe (Rob Corddry).

"Spencer offers Jason the job of a lifetime, just as Joe makes him an interesting counteroffer," Ballers Season 5 Episode official synopsis read. "Vernon (Donovan W. Carter) gets a tryout at an e-sports firm, while Ricky (John David Washington) uses old methods to handle his new situation."

Season 5 starts with Spencer doing his business tactics again. After he has decided to retire, he started working again the moment he gets the chance. Johnson's character cannot help himself but to enter the world of football and handle a team with a black majority, which is a first-time in history.

Other Ballers characters also try their chance to fit into the business world, while Joe tries to venture to the Sports X with his partner Lance (Russell Brand) after his split from Spencer in the previous year. Now, fans are going to see how the two will be working independently and if ever they are going to reunite or not.

The new season premiered on Sunday, Aug. 25, on HBO for its last and final outing. The show first hit the screen in 2015 and had been a hit TV series since then, but everything has changed.

Season 1 got a positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes and certified 81 percent fresh. It was also HBO's most-watched scripted comedy series when it started. However, it began to go down in Season 3 and only got a 60 percent rating. Is this the reason why Ballers Season 5 will be the show's ending?

According to Express, HBO didn't give any reason behind the cancellation. However, there are beliefs its poor ratings have something to do with it. The previous season finale only pulled in 600,000 compared to the final episode of Barry Season that got 2.21 million.

As Ballers Season 5 Episode 3 is coming, the show's writers promise to tie all the loose ends the show has. "Copernicursed" is set to be out on Sunday, Sept. 8, on HBO.
