The spinoff series doesn't shy away from bringing the elements from its flagship series, Sons of Anarchy. It perfectly blends the mythology of the original series with some easter eggs, the cameo appearances of some famous characters, and heart-stopping moments.
In an interview with PopCulture, Gino Vento, who plays Nestor Oceteva, revealed the references to its predecessor also excite fans aside from fans. "It's amazing," he said. The Lila & Eve star unveiled whenever they received the show's script, they all made theories like a fan.
Mayans M.C. Season 2 has a lot of references to its previous season, including Chucky's (Michael Ornstein) arrival and the big reveal about Happy (David Labrava). With its ability to stick to the show's history, Vento couldn't help but praise its co-creators Kurt Sutter and Elgin James.
He went on to say these two, along with other writers, perfectly do their jobs by planting pins, like the Sons of Anarchy cameos. Everything is a pleasant surprise from the way they had invited Ornstein to reprise his role as Chucky. When the 56-year-old star arrived at the table read, he received a round of applause and standing ovation.
Vento even teased fans would continue to see more easter eggs in the new season, as it will address EZ's heartbreaking connection to Happy. Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 1, "Xbalanque," is set to be out on Tuesday, Sept. 3, on FX.
